DAYTON – Kevin Carson, a graduate of the Dayton High School Class of 1976, is a researcher of Pacific Northwest history. He will be at the Wenaha Gallery Saturday, July 16 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the Dayton Alumni Weekend. Starting at 1 p.m. he will read parts of his latest book, The Wild West Boys, which is a historical fiction story of World War I based upon real stories of the 91st Division stationed in Fort Lewis, which was comprised of many Dayton men.

The book talks about the forefront of the war in France and Belgium, and the 91st Divisions role in the Meuse Argonne Offensive, which would turn out to be one of the largest military campaigns in modern history. It would go on to be a key part of the end of the war.

Carson will also bring letters, photographs, and a flag from World War I from his private collection, along with Palouse Indian artifacts from the 1880s. Photos from WWI will be up for sale at the event, with proceeds benefitting the Blue Mountain Historical Society of Dayton. A WWI service banner emblazoned with the names of 42 church members of the Congregational Church will also be on display.
