Wenaha Shares Useful and Usable Art

 


DAYTON – In a never-ending quest to introduce people to art in all forms, Dayton’s Wenaha Gallery is featuring the artisan soaps of Jesse and Scooter Johnston of Walla Walla Soap Works through Feb. 20.

The Johnstons have taken a typically mass-produced item and turned it into usable, useful sculpture. The couple’s signature Artisan Bar is rectangular, with sworls and peaks across the top like frosting. The Johnstons fell in love with the unique shape after they became frustrated trying to make perfectly rectangular bars.
