Leona May Clarno

Leona May Clarno, age 90 years, passed away November 10, 2015. A memorial service is planned for December 5, 2015, 10:00AM at the Waitsburg Presbyterian Church, followed by graveside services at the family plot in the Waitsburg Cemetery, with a reception following. Those who wish, in lieu of flowers can make a contribution to the Blue Mountain Humane Society through Hubbard-Rogg Funeral Home 111 S 2nd St., Dayton, WA 99328

Leona May Clarno, known by most as Lee, was born in Wellington, Kansas on December 11, 1924 to Roy and Clara Bradshaw. She graduated from Wellington High School in 1942, followed by the Wichita Business College in 1943.

Lee's working career began in Wichita at Arthur Miller Dance Studio and the YMCA as a dance instructor for Waltz, Tango and Rumba. Leona also worked for Boeing and the Army Corp of Engineers prior to starting her 58 year career with Mr. Donald Sherwood in 1954 at Sherwood & Roberts, GAC Mortgage, Old Stone Mortgage, Equitable Savings, and Meridian Mortgage. Throughout her career, she was also consistently involved with the Sherwood Trust, serving as an administrator and Secretary of the Board of Trustees

On November 28, 1963, she married Frank Clarno during a ceremony held in Mountain Home, Idaho. They made their home in Waitsburg. Throughout the years they had many pets ranging from cats to cows. She enjoyed farming her acreage and her summer visits with the grandchildren. Lee also enjoyed traveling when she could along with her outings with her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, two of her step-children, one grandson, and one great grandson. She is survived by three sisters, three step-children, fifteen grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
