Waitsburg School Board Update

Approved collective bargaining agreement.

Approved out-of-country travel for Deanna Coulston and Pam Beasley to attend a K-1 Early Literacy Retreat in Vancouver, B.C. on Oct. 2-3. All costs to attend is approximately $2500. Elementary teachers agreed to fund the retreat through a portion of a $30,000 grant.

Approve a partial, post-budget request for girls basketball equipment. Coach Elsey requested and received $5475 in his original, approved, budget, but requested an additional $1,150 for defense silhouettes, warm-up pants and game balls. Board approved purchase of warm-ups and balls, and denied the silhouette purchase.

Reviewed strategic planning priorities for 2015-16. Board will review and take action next month.

Approved hire of Chip Buroker as night maintenance custodian, and Joe Rinds as Bradley Standow as assistant middle school football coaches.

Voted to rescind contract with Department of Corrections to utilize penitentiary work crews.
