Waitsburg

Dec. 11

WWCSO deputies were dispatched to a report of a potential self-inflicted gunshot wound on Coppei Avenue at 11:51 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene they found the deceased body of Sonny J. Morrow. No indications of foul play have been discovered at this point in the ongoing investigation.

Dec. 13

Vehicle stopped for speeding on Preston Avenue. Driver arrested for driving while license suspended 3rd degree and an outstanding warrant.

Dec. 14

Arrest for Hit and Run and DUI on E. 8th Street. Suspect's vehicle passed the victim's vehicle as it was turning into the drive. Suspect's vehicle struck the victim's vehicle and fled the scene. The driver later returned and was arrested. Unknown suspect(s) took lighted rattan mechanical reindeer from a yard.

Dayton

Dec. 9

Telephone scam reported on Bruce Road from person claiming to work with the IRS. Two-vehicle, non-injury collision on E. Main Street; driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic. One vehicle was towed from the scene.


Dec. 10

Report of a possibly intoxicated male near the junction of N. Cottonwood and W. Richmond streets; deputies unable to locate. Non-injury collision at milepost 1 on Johnson Hollow Road reported after a driver swerved to miss a tree branch in the roadway, lost control of the vehicle and drove through a barbed-wire fence; driver cited for wheels off roadway. Theft of Seahawks flag from a front porch on E. Washington Avenue; taken sometime between Dec. 6-10. Case update: Deputies today searched a vehicle impounded at Kyle's Towing involved in an incident on Nov. 28. The suspect, 29-year-old Dayton woman Amanda Toms, has been charged with DUI and felony eluding in that original case. Deputies found a felony amount of marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms in the vehicle, and Columbia County Prosecutor Rea Culwell stated she would be adding these crimes to Toms's charges. Toms was released from custody on Nov. 29 and is now awaiting trial.


Dec. 11

Possible meth pipe located on the street near Coleman Oil on Harlem Road; turned over to deputies for destruction. Report of threats at Country Village Courts. Harassment reported on S. Willow Street; neighbor accused of throwing a bag of dog feces on a front porch, however deputies were unable to locate the dog owner. Vandalism reported after a vehicle owner found an unwanted marijuana sticker on his or her vehicle parked near Ag Link on E. Commercial Street.


Dec. 12

Complaint of a deer that's been hanging in a tree for the past few weeks on E. Commercial Street; referred to Washington Fish and Wildlife officer. Suspicious circumstances reported on Highway 12 near milepost 364; reporting party thought items on road looked like dynamite but they were flares. Non-injury collision with deer on Highway 12 near milepost 361; vehicle towed at owner's request. Fraudulent letter received on Harlem Road claiming to be the IRS and stating money was owed. Threats received on W. 1st Street in Starbuck. Suspicious vehicle on Highway 12 near milepost 36 turned out to be a driver looking for a lost hubcap. Deputies assisted the Department of Transportation clean up after a deer was hit on the highway near Lewis and Clark Trail State Park.


Dec. 13

Theft of gas from a dump truck on S. 2nd Street.

Dec. 14

Harassment via text messages reported on E. Spring Street. Vehicle prowl on W. Patit Avenue; fuel and electronics taken.

Dec. 15

Unwanted subject at Dayton General Hospital; trespassed from hospital grounds. Subject later reported being assaulted while escorted off the property by hospital personnel. Cell phone found on W. Clay Street. Septic system backed up at Little Goose Dam causing about 20 gallons of raw sewage to overflow into the building; referred to the Department of Ecology.
