FFA Advances to District

WAITSBURG - On March 13 Waitsburg hosted the local FFA Creed contest to select the top three candidates to compete at the FFA Sub-District Leadership Career Development Event. Taylor Spoonemoore, Devin Newman, Emily Adams, Jade Alleman, and Courtney Rogowski all recited the five paragraphs of the FFA Creed to judges Andy Winnett, Kevin House and Nicole Abel. The three members that advanced to represent Waitsburg FFA in Pomeroy are 1st Place, Taylor Spoonemore; 2nd Place, Emily Adams; 3rd Place, Devin Newman.

Sub-Districts took place on March 17 in Pomeroy and included Waitsburg, Wa-Hi, Pome­roy and Clarkston. Waitsburg's Parliamentary Procedure Team placed 2nd, Emily Adams placed 3rd in Creed and Mikala DeRuwe placed 2nd in Prepared Public Speaking with her speech titled, Taking a Step Back: A Look at the South Dakota Beef Industry.

All three now advance to the District 6 Leadership Event Monday, March 24, in Colton, Wash. The District event will include Sub-District teams along with Asotin, Colton, Pullman, Gar-Pal and Tekoa.
