Catherine Marie Hays died peacefully at home on March 22, 2013. Cay was born on January 18, 1943 in Portland, Oregon. She grew up in Vancouver and Spo- kane Washington and gradu- ated from Central Valley High School in 1961. Cay attended Washington State University and received her Bachelor of Arts in 1965. While teaching at Waitsburg High School, she met Bob Hays, whom she married in 1968. After her teaching career, Cay also worked as a social worker in Yakima for Children’s Home Soci- ety, Farm Worker’s Medical Mental Health, Child Protective Services, and most recently as an Adoption Specialist for DSHS before retiring in 2010.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Hays and son, Brian Hays both of Yakima; her daughter Angela, son-in- law Ryan Murrey and grand- son, Jonah all of Seattle; her brother and sister-in-law John and Sherry Gilbert of Fairfield; sister-in-law Joan Hays of Waitsburg, brothers-in-law Russ Hays of McCleary and Don Elder of Walla Walla, as well as nu- merous nieces and nephews.

An inurnment service will be held at Waitsburg City Cemetery on Friday, April 5th at 11am. Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6th at 2pm at Wesley United Methodist Church at 14 N 48th Ave, Yakima, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church (www.wesleyofyakima.org) , Camp Prime Time (www.campprimetime.org) or Casa La Hogar (www.lacasahogar.org ).
