Waitsburg Fourth

Waitsburg is celebrating July 4, rain or shine, by hav- ing a parade starting at noon, beginning at the fire station! Everyone is welcome to bring their own flag and join the parade. The parade will return to the Hardware Store, sing a couple of patriotic songs and then proceed to the park. It's all very informal! The Waitsburg Hardware store is providing the hot dogs and buns for everyone! Free choice if anyone wants to bring any additional food, you're certainly welcome to do so!

Lace Day

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Whitman Mission

The public is invited to attend a Lace Day on July 7, Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Members of the Walla Walla Lacy Lacers and guests will gather to create lace at the Whitman Mission National Historic Site, 328 Whitman Mission Road, West of Walla Walla. A Lace Day is an opportunity for members to demonstrate their skills to the community. Members and guests will demonstrate bobbin lace, knitted lace, crocheted lace, and tatted lace. Some "hands on" activities are planned, too. As a community ser- vice, members are creating items for Project Warm-Up. In 2011, members donated books and handcrafted lace bookmarks to adorn a mini- Christmas tree for a "Literacy and Lace Tree" at the Junior Club's Mini Christmas Tree Auction. The Christian Women's Connection Brunch will be from 10 a.m. to noon, July 11, at the home of Judy Jackson in Starbuck. The cost is $10 and it is catered by Louann Truesdale. The theme of this brunch is Life is Sweet and recounts the story of Cindy Scinto and her lifesaving heart transplant. Music will be provided by Rachel Fitchen, a homeschooler from Pomeroy who has toured with the Salt & Light Christian youth music group. Also, Jennifer Hutch- ens of NW Queen Bees, which is located up the Tu- cannon Road, will share with us all the importance of honeybees and the many health benefits of honey in our diet. Mule Mania is returning to the Columbia County Fairgrounds from July 19 through July 22. The event provides a quality event for mule and donkey lovers that is educational to the public, safe and allows them to ex- hibit the great talents of their mules and donkeys. There are many events including riding and driving competi- tion for all ages and skills, and a walk-trot division for the new mules and riders. An authentic chuck wagon feed on Friday and Saturday eve- nings, high-quality authentic western vendors of all types. There is also a parade, golf tournament, live music and cowboy church. 3rd Annual Driving Hope Charity Golf Classic Walla Walla Country Club Providence St. Mary Foundation presents the Third Annual Driving Hope Charity Golf Classic on Thursday, July 26 at the Walla Walla Country Club.
