WAITSBURG – The Waitsburg Garden Club will tour the Walla Walla landfill on July 9. Anyone interested in attending is welcome to carpool from Susan Donegan’s home at 209 W. 4th St., with a departure time of 9:30 a.m. The tour should last 90 minutes and will include an overview in the conference room followed by a visit to the different operations sites, including the main landfill. DAYTON – The Dayton Backroads Club is holding an Independence Day Fun Run/Walk Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m. Runners and walkers can choose between a 12k course and a 5k course. Both runs will begin at the Dayton High School gym and follow an out-and-back course up Cemetery Road. The course includes gravel roads and some steep stretches. The 5k course has a 600-foot elevation gain, and the 12k course has a bit more. There are great views at the top.
