Elementary Principal’s Report: The fifth grade ski program is underway and the costs are being offset by sales of a K-12 School Cookbook. Proceeds will support students for this year and future year. WAITSBURG – Sheriff's Office officials were on the scene to retrieve a dead body found in Preston Park at about 2:30 p.m. on the afternoon of Tues., Feb. 21. Walla Walla Sheriff's Office Chief Matt Brown said the death was an apparent suicide and the victim's name will not be released until the family has been notified. WAITSBURG – During its Jan. 25 Annual Meeting, Walla Walla Conservation District Manager Renee Hadley spoke about the direction the district will be taking in 2017 and beyond. WAITSBURG - The Waitsburg High School National Honor Society raised over $1,000 this school year by hosting potato bars during basketball and volleyball games. "We are very happy with that!" said NHS advisor Liv Leid. Last month, the group donated $500 to the Waitsburg Resource Center. Rivers swelled, but there was no significant flooding as feared, last week. Foot thick "icebergs" blocked Coppei Creek and found a home in the pasture owned by Kyle and Margaret Terry on the south end of Waitsburg. WAITSBURG – Last April, a group of veterans stood outside the Waitsburg Hardware store and proudly saluted as they raised brand new United States and Waitsburg flags on the pole on the corner of Main Street and Preston Avenue.
