    Waitsburg was hopping last weekend as residents and visitors enjoyed taking part in the many events that were part of this year’s Waitsburg Celebration Days. Event-goers enjoyed live music, a parade, car show, Brewfest, good food, games, and more. Both the ATV Sunset Cruise and Karen’s Ride Poker Ride were popular events. One hundred fifteen machines joined the poker ride and 220 hands of poker were played. See the Last Page for more Celebration Days photos....

    WAITSBURG – After weighing input from a handful of citizens who spoke at the May 18 Waitsburg City Council meeting, the council voted unanimously to move forward with the planned removal of five large trees on W. 6th Street. The council also agreed to consider amending the current tree ordinance at an upcoming council meeting.     DAYTON—The City of Dayton and Columbia County have entered into talks with Basin Disposal, Inc. to develop a plan for BDI to process refuse at the transfer station in Dayton. The county has also been discussing whether to repair the old facility, or to build a new one, after a fire at the transfer facility in July, 2015 destroyed most of its equipment and seriously damaged the integrity of the main building.
