Kokanee are small chrome-sided sockeye salmon that thrive in deep freshwater lakes and find a small rubber squid wiggling behind a flashing dodger irresistible. These fish are "landlocked," meaning they have no connection to the ocean, but they do make upstream spawning migrations in lakes with headwater streams.
