Weller Public Library future accessable for all

Dear Editor-

I am writing in regards to the recent article about the future of the Weller Public Library.  I grew up in Waitsburg and I agree that libraries are definitely the heart of the community. The Weller Public Library was a space I attended as a child, and then later in life it became a place that my children attended when we were visiting Grandma and Grandpa. I frequently helped my mom plant or water flowers out front of the library throughout the summer.

Although the Weller Public Library has special memories for me, and the staff does a great job, I have to agree that a change is needed.  My late mom, Pam Conover, frequently told me she wished the library could move into another building (that building has recently been sold). My mom had a vision and a heart for all age groups in the Waitsburg community, especially children.  She envisioned a building that ALL community members could access, a place for ALL ages of kids to gather, a gathering ground for groups and organizations and a place that could provide technology to our community that everyone could access.  As Mike Ferrians wrote last week about my mom,  “Hers was to see it, and say it; it was for others to act on it”.  Even though Mom is not here, I can confidently say that change is needed, a library for ALL people to access the heart of the Waitsburg community.

Sincerely,

Jane Waldher
