PRESCOTT – The Prescott performing group Tiger Beat will debut its one and only performance of the year at Friday's Senior Night basketball game in Prescott. Approximately 30 students in grades two through five have been meeting before school for the last several weeks to hone their drumming and dribbling skills in preparation for Friday night's performance.

The group is the brainchild of Prescott's new physical education teacher Tiffany Hedman who began teaching in Prescott last school year. Tiffany said she had seen other schools run similar programs and she decided to give it a try in Prescott. The Little Dribblers was a success.

This year Hedman enlisted the support of Prescott music teacher Jeremy Irland and they added bucket drumming to the routine.

"I thought that adding bucket drummers would be a slam dunk," Irland said. (pun fully intended)

"The club is a great way to develop ball handling skills, hand-eye coordination and rhythm," Hedman said. "Plus the parents come to watch their kids and stay to watch the game so it's a great way to support the team and promote basketball as well."

"The kids are really excited. It will be neat to see all their smiling faces out on the court," Irland said.

Tiger Beat will perform during halftime of the Prescott boys' basketball game against Pomeroy at 7:30 p.m. on Fri., Jan. 25.
