Hair stylist and colorist Bridget House has moved into more spacious digs on Main St. She now has room for lighting, mannequins, and clients, as well as her one big splurge, an ergonomic European shampoo bowl. Here, House preps one of her mannequins for a photo.

DAYTON-Stylists, colorists, and inventors Melissa McCowen and Bridget House still work and travel together even though House has moved from the Main Street Salon, into her own digs at 242 East Main St.

House said she simply needed more space for the filming and picture taking she does for hair product companies to use in their advertising.

"It was too disruptive. But, yes, I still love them," she said about moving out of the Main Street Salon.

In 2014, House and McCowen created a tool they called EmBee Meche, which makes adding highlights to hair much easier than the traditional method of using foil.

EmBee Meche was distributed locally, nationally, and internationally out of a leased building at the Port's Industrial Park, House said.

The product has been enormously successful and House attributes social media for that.

"I have 15,000 followers on Instagram" she said.

The pair has recently collaborated with a company in Canada called Framar, and sales of EmBee Meche is through that, now, said House.

The company's "Maniac Meche" beauty supplies are all over the world.

"And we're doing well, using our EmBee Meche in their packaging," House said.

When we last spoke to House and McCowen, in September, 2016, they were heading to Ft. Lauderdale, Flo. to attend the largest single-stage hair show in the country, to showcase the EmBee Meche product line, where House was nominated as a finalist in the rainbow hair color category.

Since then, the pair has taught in six or seven different states, including at Premier Orlando in June, 2017, which had over 60,000 attendees, House said.

She believes they will go to Orlando again, this year.

"We're still out there teaching, traveling and establishing relationships with companies," she said.

House said she is not keeping regular business hours because of the time needed for travel, filming tutorials and teaching, and she is usually fully, booked. However, there are sometimes random openings.

Twenty-four hour access to her on-line book can be found at: http://www.vagaro.com/bridgethouse.
