Prescott Tigers Take Third at State

Tigers fall to St. George's 3-1 but beat Crosspoint 4-0

Tigers fall to St. George's 3-1 but beat Crosspoint 4-0

SUMNER, Wash. – The Prescott Tigers soccer team fell 3-1 to rivals, and two-time state champions, St. George's, at the Washington State 1B/2B state soccer championships here on Fri., Nov. 16. But they took an easy 4-0 win against Orcas Island to bring home a third place trophy on Saturday.

St. George's took a one-point lead in Friday's game, but a goal from Tiger Jose Gonzalez, on an assist from Jonathan Iglesias and Omar Velazco left the score tied at halftime. The Dragons scored twice in the second half for the win.

Prescott faced off against Orcas Island on Saturday, scoring twice in each half. Goalkeeper Jose Iglesias had three saves for the Tigers, leaving the Vikings scoreless. Alejandro Blanco scored the first Tiger goal with Gonzalez adding two more. The Dragons made an own goal to give the Tigers a 4-0 win.


Friday's win kept St. George's in the running for a three-time championship win but they fell to Crosspoint 2-0, to take second place instead.
