A train was derailed on the newly operational short line railroad, just west of Waitsburg on Bolles Road Tuesday morning. The Port of Columbia opened the line last month after it had been closed for nearly three years due to needed repairs on bridges and a section of track near the Touchet River that was suffering from bank erosion. The cause of the derailment is still under investigation, according to Frontier Rail owner Paul Didelius.
