Arraignment:

Charles W. Hartwell, 41, Dayton. Charged with three charges of second degree assault with a deadly weapon. Hartwell, who was driving a motorcycle down the highway, is accused with pulling a handgun on the victim, who was driving in another vehicle. The victim has reportedly been receiving escalating threats for months. Hartwell entered a plea of not guilty. He is being held on $100,000 cash/surety bond and was ordered to surrender all weapons.

Plea Agreements:

Scott E. Watkins, 38, Dayton. Charged with second degree arson, two counts of attempted residential burglary, and third degree malicious mischief; he is also charged with third degree assault – substantial pain in a second case. Accepted a plea agreement which dropped second degree arson to first degree reckless burning, dismissed one count of attempted residential burglary, amended malicious mischief from third degree to second degree and assault from third degree to fourth degree. Watkins was sentenced to 29 months for charge one, 50 months for charge two, 364 days for charge three and 29 months for the assault charge. Time will be served concurrently so he will spend a total of 50 months in confinement, with credit for time served.


Alonzo Grant Snider, 44, Dayton. Charged with third degree assault and resisting arrest. Snider changed his plea to guilty and charge one was amended from third degree assault to second degree. Snider was sentenced to 90 days in jail on each charge with credit for time served. Sentences will run concurrently for a total of 90 days in jail. Restitution will be determined by the court at a later date.


Jonathan Weis, 23, Dayton. Charged with unlawful imprisonment – DV and fourth degree assault – DV. Changed plea to guilty in exchange for amending unlawful imprisonment charge to fourth degree assault. Sentenced to 364 days on each charge with 329 days suspended on each, with credit for time served. Sentence completed with time served. A 24-month no-contact order with the victim is in place.

Curtis A. Jones, 33, Hermiston; charged with illegal possession of a firearm and criminal trespass. Accepted an agreement in which the state recommended an exceptional sentence at less than the standard range with credit for time served if Jones successfully completes a drug and alcohol treatment program.


Trials Set:

George William Waltermire, 63, Dayton; charged with second degree assault – domestic violence. Trial set for Nov. 21-21.

Brandon Wayne John, 33, Dayton; charged with escape in the first degree. Bench trial set for Nov. 20.

Kyle J Savage, 33, Dayton. Charged with first degree assault with a deadly weapon and second degree assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence. Trial set for Nov. 20-21.

Other:

Derrick McCuaig, 32, Dayton; charged with theft of a firearm. Case continued to Oct. 4 for resolution.

Christopher A. Smith, 47, Dayton; Charged with third degree rape. Case was dismissed without prejudice. Victim did not want to testify.

Lonnie Lee Montoya, 35, Dixie. Charged with theft of a motor vehicle in one case, and attempting to elude a police vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest, driving with a suspended license – third degree in another case. Plea agreement is in the works. Case continued to Oct. 4.


Joshua Brownell Wilson, 22, Dayton; Charged with assault in the fourth degree and assault in the fourth degree and harassment – threats to kill in one case and with assault in the second degree – intention to cause bodily harm and assault in the fourth degree – domestic violence in a second case. Trial dates struck for state to consider global plea agreement. Continued to Oct. 14 for resolution.
