Kristina Brown is New Dayton MS/HS Principal

Brown comes to Dayton after teaching in Pasco School District

DAYTON-The Dayton School Board has approved Superintendent Doug Johnson's recommendation of Kristina Brown for Dayton Middle and High School Principal.

"Kristina has a strong desire to support teachers as they seek instruction strategies...I believe Kristina will be a strong member of our school team," said Johnson.

Board President Dan Butler said Brown was one of a field of 10 candidates for the position. He said three candidates were interviewed, with two advancing to the final interviews on June 28.

"Brown was chosen because of her experience as a classroom and teacher leader, and because she has worked on district-wide initiatives, helping other teachers improve instructional methods and classroom assessment," Butler said. She also understands the importance of reaching out and developing alliances in the community, especially parent partnership, which will help student success for all, both in school, and in the future," he added.

Brown, along with Stephanie Kubej, an interim elementary principle with the Spokane School District, met with the District faculty, students and members of the community on June 28. Brown was approved by the Board on July 5.

Brown has taught English language arts and history at Stevens Middle School in Pasco for the past four years. She received her administrative certification from WSU in May 2017.

Johnson said Brown will be at the school during the first week in August, and she looks forward to meeting students and their parents on August 15, which is district registration day.

Teachers Shayna Hutchens and Jeff McCann, elementary principal Denise Smith and high school secretary Angie John were on the selection committee, along with Butler and Johnson.
