April Events at the Dayton Library

 


DAYTON – The Friends of the Dayton Memorial Library are hosting the second annual Cowboy Poetry Night on Thursday, April 29, at 6:30 p.m. in the Delany Room.

This free event kicks off with samples of many types of western finger foods, along with beverages. Western music and lyrics will be performed by local musicians, and poetry readings of original work is planned.

Organizers urge people to come early to get a good seat. Last year more than 60 people were in attendance.

Other activities at the library this month include:

A daily structured fitness workout is scheduled for April. Spring into Fitness will take place in the Delany Room, Monday through Friday at 6 a.m., throughout the month of April. Shakira Bye is the instructor.

The library is hosting a job skills fair on Friday, April 13, from 9 am until 4 pm. Work Source Walla Walla, the YWCA, the Port of Columbia, the Boys and Girls club, and other organizations will be on hand to help make job searches productive.

A professional appearance presentation will take place in the morning, after which mock interviews will be conducted, with help from Mary Byrd of the Walla Walla YWCA.

After 11 a.m. Work Source will help with resume proofing. Applications, volunteer opportunity lists, and various other resources, will be available throughout the day. Lunch will be provided for all-day participants.

Family Story Time is on April 5 at 6 p.m.

Tech Tuesday will be held April 10, 17, and 24 at 6 p.m.

After School STEAM is April 10 at 3:15 p.m.

STEAM story time is April 11 at 10 a.m.

Book Chat, the Not a Book Club Book Club, is April 21 at 6 p.m.
