The Times - Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley

WAITSBURG – Just as the birds return to Capistrano each year, so do the flamingos return to Waitsburg. Except here in the ‘burg, they serve the purpose of raising funds for local FFA members to attend the State FFA Convention, to be held on the Washington State University campus in May.

Flocking will begin after spring break. For $20, individuals can surprise a friend (or enemy!) with a festive flock of flamingos to adorn their front lawn. The flock will quietly migrate to another home the following evening. And for the Flamingo-phobic, anti-flocking insurance is available for just $10.
