The Times - Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley

WALLA WALLA COUNTY – Walla Walla County is starting considerations for Comprehensive Plan and Development amendments for 2018. The county normally opens applications for amendments on Jan. 1, but with the plan due June 30, the application cycle has been opened early.

The plan applies to urban growth areas (UGA) of College Place, Prescott, Waitsburg, and Walla Walla. the purpose of the plan is to guide the county in development of the UGAs, as well as the unincorporated communities of Burbank, Dixie, Lowden, and Touchet.

To propose amendments to the plan, contact the Walla Walla County Community Development Department at (509) 524-2610 for more information on application submittal requirements. Applicants are strongly encouraged to meet with the agency’s planning staff prior to submitting an application to obtain information on the application process, including timelines and applicable fees.

Applications must be submitted to the Community Development Departmenta office at 310 W. Poplar St., Ste. 200 in Walla Walla by Thurs., Nov. 30. More information can be found at the department’s website at http://www.co.walla-walla.wa.us.
