Waitsburg City Council Update

May 17, 2017

Council members KC Kuykendall, Terry Jacoy, Kevin House, Jim Romine, Kate Hockersmith, and Mayor Marty Dunn were all present

-Kevin House was unanimously voted to retain his role as Mayor Pro Tem.

-Unanimously approved a pay increase for pool employees to stay slightly above minimum wage. Lifeguard pay will be $11/hr and office manager/lifeguard will be $12/hr. There are currently no plans for the pool to be open on Saturdays since the donor who previously covered Saturday swims is no longer sponsoring them. Several local groups have offered to sponsor free family swim days on the weekends, to be announced later.

-Unanimously approved a cost-share agreement with the Waitsburg School District for sidewalk replacement on Academy. The district will contribute $2,200 toward the improvements.

-Unanimously approved the appointment of Matt Spring to the planning commission. This brings the commission to a full slate of seven members.

-Council discussed financing options to fund large-scale infrastructure work. Council reviewed the options as well as the work that needs to be done and decided the issue will be one for ongoing discussion rather than action. City Manager Randy Hinchliffe was requested to bring an priority-itemized list of upgrades to the next council meeting.
