Dayton Wins Regional Knowledge Bowl Meet

Dayton and Waitsburg teams are on to compete at state

WAITSBURG – Six teams tested their wits at the annual Regional Knowledge Bowl meet held in Waitsburg on Feb. 2. Dayton, Riverside Christian of Sunnyside, and Waitsburg advanced to the State Meet in Arlington, Wash., which will be held this Saturday.

DeSales and Dayton competed for the lone 2B state slot. Dayton took a strong victory, with 106 points to DeSales's 83 points. Pomeroy, Prescott, Riverside Christian, and Waitsburg vied for the two 1B slots. Riverside was the strong leader with 105 points and Waitsburg followed with 85 points. Pomeroy earned 53 points and Prescott earned 37.

Waitsburg's Team One members include: Cade Branson, Leena Baker, Robert Walsh, Scott Leamy, Kevin Murphy and Gillian Pope. They are coached by Brad Green.

Dayton's Team One members include: Zech Bryan, Cal Martin, Jennifer Warren, Jacob Breaux, and Neylan Bryan. They are coached by Doug Yenney.

Both teams will head to State on Friday. The WHS team will see the sights in Seattle and spend the night in Marysville, according to Coach Green.
