FINLEY – The Dayton Boys' basketball team led at halftime on the road against River View on Dec. 6, but got blown out in the third quarter and took the loss, 62-48.

Tanner Bren had an outstanding game, notching 18 points, including two three-pointers. He also had four steals for the game.

The Bulldogs had a strong first half, and took a 29-26 lead into halftime. But River View got hot in the third quarter and outscored Dayton, 18-6 in that frame, before cruising to the win.

"Our defense in the first half was solid," said Dayton coach Will Hutchens. "We really tried to get into the passing lanes, and Tanner got several steals which led to some easy baskets for us."

Ben Kleck added 13 points for the Bulldogs, and Lane Wilkening scored 10. Wilkening and Cal Martin each pulled down five rebounds.

The Bulldogs continued to struggle on the boards. "Tonight we gave up 16 offensive rebounds. You cannot beat teams if you give them that many second chances," Hutchens said.

Dayton was set to play Walla Walla Valley Academy on Tuesday. They will travel to Kittitas on Saturday, and then play DeSales in Walla Walla on Dec. 20.
