Members of the Waitsburg volleyball team celebrate after a big play against Pomeroy in their match in Waitsburg on Sept. 27.

WAITSBURG – The Waitsburg Volleyball team hosted Pomeroy on Sept. 27, and lost the match in three sets, 11-25, 20-25, 9-25.

On Thursday, Sept. 29, the Waitsburg girls traveled to Oakesdale and again were swept, 11-25, 19-25, 7-25.

"Last week was pretty tough playing against the top two teams in the state in our classification," said Waitsburg coach Angie Potts. "There were things I thought we did very well and there were definitely areas where we struggled.

"The girls played well together, they didn't get down on each other or themselves for their mistakes and when they competed (in the 2nd sets of each match) they competed very well and showed that they can play with the best," Potts added.

"We had a lot of touches on the block and had the most blocks in these last two matches that we've had all season," she said. "Devon and Analisea seemed to be getting their hands almost everything that the opposing teams were hitting."

Stats vs. Pomeroy: Tayler Jones 7 digs, Analisea Araya 3 blocks, Devon Harshman 3 blocks, 2 kills.

Stats vs. Oakesdale: Tayler Jones 6 digs, 4 kills; Chloe Pearson 6 digs, 2 aces; Jade Alleman 2 kills, 1 block; Ariel Sandau 10 assists; Devon Harshman 2 blocks, 4 kills; Taylor Hays 5 digs.
