Trials Set:

-Steven Ray Long, 29, Dayton; charged with 17 counts including theft, drug charges, malicious mischief and burglary stemming from incidents that took place in Feb. and May, 2013. Trial set for Oct. 20-21.

- Curtis A. Jones, 32, Hermiston; charged with illegal possession of a firearm and criminal trespass. Charges stem from an incident with WDFW that occurred in Oct. 2014. Jones is being held in custody on a bench warrant. Trial is set for Aug. 17.

-Joseph John Richter, 31, homeless; charged with violation of uniform controlled substance act – possession of amphetamine, violation of uniform controlled substance act – use of drug paraphernalia, two counts of criminal trespass in the second degree, contempt of court, criminal trespass in the first degree, and reckless burning in the second degree. Global resolution requested. Trial reset to Sept. 14.

Sentencing:

-Justin Brady, 38, Dayton; charged with one count of violation of the uniform controlled substances act – possession of methamphetamine. He accepted a plea agreement to serve 12 months in Columbia County Jail, 12 months of community service, and $830 in fines and fees in exchange for a guilty plea.

- Eric Ryan Vanzandt, 33, Dayton; Charged with Count 2) violation of a protection order – domestic violence, Count 3) assault in the fourth degree – domestic violence, Count 5) obstructing a law enforcement officer. Sentenced to 30 months drug offender sentencing alternative on Count 2, to be converted to 60 months upon violation of DOSA. Sentenced to 364 days on Count 3. Sentenced to zero days on Count 5.

Warrants issued:

-Jazzmen Latay Slack, 25, Richland; charged with five counts of possession of stolen property in the second degree, five counts of possession of another person’s identity, and one count of use of drug paraphernalia. Did not appear for resolution hearing. Bench warrant issued.

-Christopher James Martin, 32, Kennewick; charged with one count of violation of controlled substances act – possession of methamphetamine and one count of violation of controlled substances act – possession of Quetiapine (Seroquel). He was arrested on July 1 with an outstanding Walla Walla warrant and pills were found when he was checked into Columbia County jail. He failed to appear for his Aug. 3 arraignment and a bench warrant was issued.

Other:

-Julia L Richardson, 32, Lewiston; charges with one count of violation of controlled substances act – possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and one count of attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle. Info was amended with count one dismissed due to insufficient evidence

-Christopher Scott Swan, 47, Dayton; originally charged with indecent liberties attempt – domestic violence in Apr. 2013. He was originally sentenced to 83 days with a suspended sentence of 6 ½ months and community custody of three years. The state motioned to amend the original incorrect sentence to change the suspended sentence from 6 ½ months to 11 ¼ months.

-Michael Anthony West, 38, Dayton; charged with one count of violation of a protection order, with two priors. Accepted plea agreement with state recommending 27.5 months in prison followed by 27.25 months of community custody in exchange for guilty plea. Attorney requested more time to review plea agreement.
