Bulldogs Can't Keep Up with Undefeated Asotin

Offense continues to improve as Dayton falls 13-3, 19-3 on the road

ASOTIN – The Dayton Baseball team traveled to Asotin on April 19 to take on the undefeated Panthers and fell 12-3 and 19-3 in a double-header.

In the first game, Dyllan Swan had a strong four innings on the mound, with two strikeouts, before being relieved in the fifth. Dayton trailed 9-2 going into the bottom of the fifth inning, but gave up four runs, which ended the game on the mercy rule.

The Bulldogs had five hits in the game, including a two-run double by Ashton Loper in the top of the fifth.

“All in all I was very impressed with how the Bulldogs performed,” said Dayton coach Shane Loper. “Asotin is undefeated and appears to be the best team we faced this year.”

In the second game, the Bulldogs endured a grueling 11-run outburst by the Panthers in the second inning, which proved too much to overcome. Asotin held Dayton to only three hits, though the Bulldogs struck out only three times.

“Bats were flying out and grounding out, but at least making contact from the Bulldog’s side,” said coach Loper.

The Bulldogs were to travel to Tri-Cities Prep on Tuesday, and then will host Riverview on Friday.
