DAYTON-Cottage Path Antiques and Collectibles is open in Dayton.

In November 2015, Caroline McFarland moved her antiques and collectibles business out of the shop on her Tucannon River property and into the new digs at 125 East Main Street.

McFarland's shop is filled to overflowing with antique furniture, Victoriana, glass collectibles, linens, dishes, and much more. There is also an extensive collection of toy horses.

"I try to have something for everyone," McFarland said.

McFarland said that she and her husband, Randy, have been avid collectors since 1978 while farming in the Okanogan Highlands.

"My husband and I both liked primitives, and Victorian items, and it sort of branched out from there," she said.

In 1982 the McFarlands moved from the Okanogan area to the Tri-Cities for employment at the Hanford site, and they kept collecting.

"We collect all over, out and in state," she said.

McFarland said she has an eye for which items will make a profit. She admitted that it would be hard for her not to collect antiques.

"I would miss it," she said.

In 1994 McFarland opened an antique shop in Kennewick that she ran for six years, until retiring to the Tucannon River property in 2000, where she conducted her antique business out of a specially built shop on the property.

McFarland said she was intrigued with the idea of moving to Dayton. "There are more people here," she noted.

"I would drive by and look at this neat old building, so I went to the courthouse, inquired about it, and entered into negotiations with the owner," McFarland said.

"We are still living on the Tucannon," McFarland said. "I like it much better here, though," she added.

Cottage Path Antiques and Collectibles is open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
