Dayton ASB Urges Yes Vote

Dear Editor,

We would like to bring to your attention the seriousness of our school’s situation. We urge you to pass both of the upcoming levies; most urgently the Maintenance and Operations Levy, and the equally important Capital Projects Levy. The Dayton High School roof has leaked for as long as any of us can remember. It leaves disgusting brown stains on our ceiling tiles and large wet spots on the carpets in the hallways. It also occasionally drips on students’ heads or books when they walk by. This fix is long overdue and we ask that you please consider the student body when making your decision.

Our art class was cut two years ago and if the Maintenance and Operations Levy is not passed our other three electives (Ag, Wood Tech, Band) are at risk of being cut as well. The repercussions of this may include students leaving our school because we will only be able to offer core classes and other schools will be able to offer much more. Dayton High School staff and students take pride in the quality extracurricular activities available for such a small town; it would be devastating to lose one of the most positive programs we have here. Thank you for your time.

Dayton HS Associated Student Body
