On Jan. 15, law enforcement officers from the Walla Walla County Sheriff's office, the Washington State Patrol, and the Columbia County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant on a Dayton Ave. residence that resulted in the discovery of items stolen in multiple burglaries and thefts.

DAYTON – On January 15 at approximately 12 p.m., the Columbia County Sheriff's Office and the Washington State Patrol assisted the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office in executing a search warrant at 305 E. Dayton Avenue, Apt. B. That search resulted in the recovery of items stolen in multiple thefts and burglaries.

According to a CCSO press release, the WWCSO developed probable cause for the warrant from a string of burglaries in Walla Walla County and the subsequent arrest of Perry Ashelman on Dec. 19. Ashelman, 33, is a former Dayton resident.

Ashelman is currently being held in the Walla Walla County Jail on $20,000 bail on multiple charges of residential burglary, theft, malicious mischief, possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen mail, and trafficking in stolen property.

Following the January 15 search, Jessica Spalinger of Dayton, age 24, was arrested on charges of trafficking in stolen property and transported to the Walla Walla County Jail.

Citizens who have had goods stolen and hope they have been recovered should contact the WWCSO at (509) 524-5000 with a clear, accurate description of the stolen items and when the report was taken. The WWCSO asks citizens to be patient while they are busy processing items and working on the case.
