August 2: Theft reported on W. Main Street after two people walked out of the store without paying for alcohol; deputy contacted the people who returned and paid. Caller on Rose Gulch Road concerned about what sounded like someone shooting an automatic weapon in the area; deputies contacted person at nearby residence who was shooting a semi-automatic rifle on private property.

August 3: Possible DUI on W. Cameron Street, caller stated the driver bought alcohol at the store; deputies were unable to locate the vehicle. Disturbance reported on W. Cameron Street; deputies located an intoxicated male pounding on the outside of a trailer and advised him to leave. Report of theft of an iPad a week and a half ago on W. Cameron Street, also a possible vehicle theft. Deputy arrested Wenatchee resident Dagen Mathews, 19, near milepost 29 on Tucannon Road on suspicion of minor in possession of alcohol and marijuana. IRS fraud call reported on E. Park Street. Intoxicated male in the alley off W. Main Street; deputies contacted him, gave him an infraction for consuming alcohol in public, and informed him that he’s been trespassed from Conoco. Fraud call on E. Clay Street stating the homeowner had won a $250,000 Walmart sweepstakes. Burglary on Harlem Road; front door forced open but nobody there, nothing appeared to be disturbed or missing. Caller reporting white passenger car spinning circles in a parking lot on S. 3rd Street.

August 4: Deputy on patrol located an unattended fire in a fire ring at a residence on E. Patit Ave; contacted homeowner who extinguished the fire. Attempted burglary reported on E. Main Street; caller reported that someone attempted to “jimmy” the locks on a business, but no entry was made. Caller in Dixie requesting deputies contact person who might be trespassing on private property on Shorty Road; subject was advised not to return to the property. Collision occurred on Whetstone Road after a wheat truck went off the road into a canyon; driver was transported to Dayton General Hospital. Deputy arrested Pullman resident Justin Stone, 31, on S. 6th Street on an Asotin County warrant.

August 5: Sounds of argument or fight reported on W. Cameron Street; deputies did not locate or hear anything in the area, no answer at the residence.

August 6: Gas drive off reported on W. Main Street when a black Suburban drove off without paying; deputies were unable to locate but state they are familiar with the driver and will make contact. Caller reporting suspicious behavior on Eckler Mountain Road at Pioneer Park, said people with car and tent were trying to hide; deputy contacted campers and reported nothing suspicious. Unwanted subject at residence on W. Cameron Street; deputy contacted person who packed up belongings and left. Verbal altercation between two parties on E. Commercial Street. Caller on S. 5th Street reported that a juvenile male brought a loaded handgun to the caller’s residence; deputy responded and cleared with a report to follow.

August 7: Gas drive off after a white pickup didn’t pay for fuel on W. Main Street; deputy contacted company and retrieved payment. Deputy arrested Dayton resident Joseph Richter, 30, on a local warrant for failure to appear on an underlying assault charge. Caller reporting a male on N. Touchet Road cutting up a roadkill deer on the side of the road; deputy contacted man and advised that it’s illegal to take the animal. Possible animal mistreatment reported on W. Main Street; silver car with small panting dog locked inside. Two intoxicated subjects “causing problems” on W. Main Street; deputies contacted individuals and escorted them from the premises. Non-injury collision on Highway 12 near milepost 365 when vehicle struck deer.

August 8: Loud music reported on S. 2nd Street. Suspicious pickup truck reportedly parked at gate of a neighboring cabin on Payne Hollow Road; deputy checked the area but did not locate anyone, cabin secure. Barking dog reported on S. 2nd Street. Caller on W. Main Street reported that a man walked into the store with an open beer and when told to leave became belligerent; deputy contacted the man, cited him for consuming alcohol in public and trespassed him from the store.
