Dayton

July 12

Report that someone took a vehicle from Harlem Road without permission; vehicle was returned when the subject was confronted by the caller’s daughter. Set of keys found in the Dayton Mercantile parking lot. Erratically driven Honda Civic reported on S. 3rd Street; deputies unable to locate. Two people reportedly seen in the alcove of the Lutheran Church on S. 3rd Street; deputy contacted the people and asked them to move on.

July 13

Money found on the street was brought to the sheriff’s office. Black Dodge pickup reportedly speeding past a home on W. Whitman Avenue; deputies were unable to locate. Red Corvette reportedly speeding in the area of S. 6th Street; deputies were unable to locate. Dayton resident Efrain Moya, 47, was arrested on a Benton County warrant. Two people were seen arguing at the fuel pumps on W. Main Street; vehicle was gone when deputies arrived.

July 14

Caller reported someone coming to the door to sell Dish Network service; deputy contacted to verify sales person had all the necessary paperwork for soliciting in Dayton. Dayton resident Travis Hackett, 39, was arrested on a warrant out of Benton County. Deputy assisted with a disturbance between residents on W. Main Street.

July 15

Deputies assisted with investigation into a house fire on E. Commercial Street as well as a small brush fire behind the city wastewater treatment plant. Theft reported on E. Washington Avenue; caller reported that packages left on the porch are being opened and one additional package was possibly stolen from the porch.

July 16

White pickup on Highway 12 near milepost 363 losing items from its bed and causing a traffic hazard; deputy contacted the driver who was already picking up the lost items. Noise complaint on E. Tremont Street; deputy contacted neighbor and requested the music be turned down. Trespassing reported on Eckler Mountain Road; Dayton resident Kyle Jamerson, 30, was arrested on suspicion of trespassing. Caller on W. Richmond Avenue reported hearing yelling, screaming and general sounds of fighting in the area; deputies did not hear anything suspicious but contacted people at the residence where everything was fine.

July 17

Deputies assisted with the investigation into a fire at the Columbia county Transfer Station (dump); cause remains unknown. Fraud reported on N. Touchet Road; possible scam call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft and wanting access to the homeowner’s computer. Theft of a dining room chair from a front porch reported on E. Commercial Street. Theft of an iPod from the city pool reported; iPod was later recovered.

July 18

Barking dog complaint on E. Richmond Avenue. Deputies recovered a 2009 Honda ZX600R motorcycle from the bushes on W. Richmond Avenue that had its ignition tampered with; motorcycle had been stolen out of Spokane and was impounded – no suspects at this time. Deputies assisted with the removal of an unwanted guest at the Best Western. Kennewick resident Angel Tapia, 18, was arrested on a Benton County warrant. Kennewick resident Forence Pease, 30, was arrested on a Benton County warrant. Complaint of loud music coming from Woody’s Bar and Grill; deputies contacted the bar and arrangements were made to lower the volume of the music.
