Swim the Snake Fundraiser, August 8

 


STARBUCK – The third annual Swim the Snake event will take place August 8 at the Lyons Ferry Marina. The fundraising event is held jointly by the Dayton and Pomeroy Summer Youth Swim Programs and the Blue Mountain Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Council.

The non-competitive, open-water swim begins at Lyons Ferry State Park and and ends at Lyon’s Ferry Marina, with a total swim distance of .7 mile.

U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and area county sheriff’s river patrols will be on hand to assist with safety.

Pre-registrater at http://www.eventbrite.com and additional information may be found at https://sites.google.com/site/swimthesnake. On-site registration is from 9:45 -10:50 a.m. Swimmers will begin the swim, in flights of 10, at 11 a.m.

A complimentary shuttle will be available to return swimmers from the marina back to their vehicles at the park.

The entry fee is $35 and includes a commemorative T-shirt (if registered by 7/31/15). Participants can park at Lyons Ferry State Park using a one-day Discover Pass for $10 or an annual Discover Pass for $30.

Event sponsors are: Port of Columbia, KOA Lyons Ferry Marina, Columbia REA, the Weinhard Hotel, Chief Spring’s and Iron Brewery, Portland General Electric, Waitsburg Commercial Club and Blue Crystal Screen Printing.
