May 17

Caller reporting an intoxicated male attempting to leave residence by vehicle on Turner Road; caller convinced the person not to drive. Possible scam call on E. Oak Street; caller was asked to wire money for winning a pickup truck. Neighbor reportedly harassing neighbor on McNeil Street.

May 18

Caller on W. Main Street reporting a 20-year-old male throwing rocks at the Columbia Cut Stock building; deputies were unable to locate.

May 19

Vehicle prowls reported overnight on two vehicles – one on S. 3rd Street and one on S. 4th Street; ignition keys and BB gun missing from one, earbuds missing from other vehicle. Burglary reported on S. 3rd Street; impact drive and cordless screwdriver taken from residential garage. Deputy assisted the Department of Corrections on Rose Gulch; Eric VanZandt, 30, of Dayton, was arrested on a DOC warrant. Report of possible trespassing on E. Dayton Avenue; deputies did not locate anyone on the property. Red demo car reportedly racing recklessly on W. Commercial Street; deputies were unable to locate. Suspicious white Ford in a driveway on Turner Road; Garfield County deputies had subsequent contact with the vehicle.

May 20

Report of black Volvo driving erratically westbound on Highway 12 from milepost 362; deputies were unable to locate. Citizen contacted on S. 4th Street and warned to have lights on bicycle at night.

May 21

Fraud reported on Highway 12 near milepost 364; resident received magazines to which he or she has not subscribed. Threats reported on Rose Gulch Road after an RV pulled into a site during the night and refused to pay; unknown subject left prior to deputy arrival. Non-injury collision reported in the parking lot of Dayton Mercantile. Vandalism on Oliphant Road; tires slashed. Suspicious red car in front of house on E. Washington Avenue with two occupants who exited the vehicle but returned to car and drove off when they saw the reporting party; deputies were unable to locate the vehicle. Assault reported on W. Commercial Street; adult and juvenile males stated they were rough-housing, not assaulting each other.

May 22

Deputies escorted unwanted subject from a home on S. 5th Street. Suspicious black Tahoe parked on S. 4th Street with a male standing outside the vehicle smoking; caller was worried the person might be “casing” the area. Parking complaint of vehicle parked the wrong direction on E. Main Street. Trespassing hunters reported on Lost Springs Road. Deputies assisted with medical call at Country Village. Erratic red motorcycle reportedly speeding up and down S. 4th Street; deputies unable to locate. Caller reporting a friend from Richland was overdue from a dirt-bike ride in the Blue Mountains; deputies were advised, but the overdue person contacted dispatch and was fine.

May 23

Theft of approximately 18 gallons of gas siphoned from vehicle on Lower Hogeye Road. Van reported stolen on Lower Weinhard Road was found crashed at the bottom of the hill; van was towed from the scene, no driver located in the area, under investigation. Vandalism reported on Eckler Mountain Road; caller stated that sometime over the last week somebody removed the digital display from the caller’s ATV. Caller reported an intoxicated female screaming in the street on S. 4th Street; female was brought to the sheriff’s office and arrangements were made for her to stay at a friend’s house for the night.
