Vida L. Petersen, 100, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Dayton General Hospital surrounded by family and friends. She was born December 23, 1914, in Wirth, Arkansas, to Ray Ellis and Elizabeth Cunningham (Hill).

Vida married Thomas H. Petersen on March 28, 1940, in Yuma, Arizona. Vida and Tommy traveled the world together, visiting France, Spain, Switzerland, Malaga, and more, enjoying their favorite hobby of playing the best golf courses in the world.

    In 1974, Vida and Tommy moved to Dayton, WA. Vida worked for Green Giant until she retired and then continued to do seasonal work with her husband until his passing in 1982.

Vida was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She loved to tell jokes and make others laugh. She was always ready to pray with you, share God's word, and bring a smile to others up till the day she went to be with the Lord.

She is survived by her niece Lynna Johns (husband Terry), great-niece Samantha Steele and great-great niece Ariya Steele, all of Lewiston, ID. Nieces Carolyn Klebesadel of Wibaux, MT, and Shirley Matkin of Driggs, ID.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tommy Petersen, parents Ray Ellis and Elizabeth Cunningham, brothers Herb Cunningham and Herman "Lucky" Cunningham, and sister Helen Kininmonth.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 11th, at Faith Chapel (formerly Harvest Christian Center) on the west end of Dayton, WA. A potluck gathering to follow in the fellowship hall.
