Mar. 1

Burbank driver Timmy Elias, 50, cited for driving on a suspended license.

Mar. 2

Commercial burglary on E. Main Street at Inland Cellular’s retail store; see story in this issue for more details including the arrest of a suspect. Identity theft reported by a caller in Clarkston stating someone used his son’s name to register a vehicle in Dayton without the son’s permission. Deputies arrested 44-year-old Dayton resident William “Eddie” Tewalt on a Department of Corrections warrant and transported him to DOC’s custody. Suspicious activity reported on Highway 12 at milepost 365; callers reported people photographing their shed, barn and outbuildings the previous night.

Mar. 3

Carolyn Fleming, 48, of Pomeroy was arrested on a Columbia County warrant for failure to pay child support. Burglary reported on E. Park Street; caller stated a shed was broken into but nothing was taken. Chevron gas station on E. Main Street reported two instances of shoplifting; investigation is ongoing. Deputies arrested 25-year-old Walla Walla female Christine Andrews during a traffic stop on E. Main Street on a Walla Walla warrant; second warrant subject, John Garrett Waltermire, fled the scene (see story of his subsequent capture and arrest in this issue).

Mar. 4

Caller on E. Main Street reported a scam IRS phone call. Caller on S. 5th Street reported receiving unwanted, harassing phone calls and text messages. Intoxicated male reportedly urinating in the alley south of E. Main Street; subject was gone on deputy arrival but was later contacted by deputies at his home. Caller on Gallaher Road reporting scam IRS phone call.

Mar. 5

Caller on McGovern Lane reporting scam IRS phone call. Debit card stolen on W. Dayton Avenue. Deputies assisted Child Protective Services with a welfare check at Valley View.

Mar. 6

Suspicious circumstances reported at the Masonic Lodge on S. 6th Street; deputy checked the building and found an unlocked door but nothing amiss. Traffic hazard on N. Front Street; deputy provided assistance to driver whose classic car broke down in the middle of the road. Theft of a battery charger reportedly taken from a storage shed at the Touchet Valley Golf Course. Fight reported on W. Brooklyn Avenue; two males in verbal altercation settled by deputy contact.

Mar. 7

Caller on Tucannon Road reportedly receiving scam phone calls from someone claiming the homeowner’s computer was infected and that the caller needed personal information to “clean” the homeowner’s computer. Two-vehicle collision including a roll over reported on Hatley Gulch Road; on driver fled the scene, but no injuries were reported and both vehicles were towed from the scene. Non-injury vehicle collision with deer on N. Touchet Road.

Mar. 8

Abandoned bicycle found on W. Main Street. Single-vehicle rollover collision reported on Highway 12 at milepost 381; driver of a 2004 Dodge Neon lost control of the car. Driver refused medical assistance; investigation was handled by Washington State Patrol.
