'Hogs' for History

Photo by Dian Ver Valen Dozens of history supporters turned out Saturday to donate to the Blue Mountain Heritage Society at the 8th Annual Ground "Hog" Sausage Fest in the Youth Building at the Columbia County Fairgrounds. The society uses ticket sales for the meal to fund such community historical projects as the Palus Museum, the Smith Hollow School and Columbia County History Books. At the podium is Dick Phillips of Walla Walla who performed the evening's entertainment by portraying his grandfather, Charles W. Phillips, and telling stories of his life and times as an early Walla Walla Valley settler.
