It's too-little-too-late as two Liberty Lancers attempt to prevent a lay-in by WP's Owen Lanning.

WAITSBURG – Led by 6 foot 8 inch Match Burnham's 31 points, the Liberty Lancers won big over the WP boys' basketball team Friday night, 62-38. The Cardinals struggled in the first half, falling behind 21-7 after one quarter and 36-14 at the half. Burnham scored 25 of his points in that half

"We had three starters in foul trouble early," said WP coach Tavis Crittenden. "Once they sat down, we fell behind." Only eight WP varsity players suited for the game, since it took place before the end of Christmas break.

For the game, Chance Leroue had ten points, and Owen Lanning had eight. Leroue also led his team with six rebounds, and Devin Acevedo had three assists.

"It was our first game after two weeks off, and that was probably the best team we'll face all year," Crittenden said. "It was a great experience for our guys to play a team like that. I know it will help us as the season progresses."

WP, with a 4-4 record, was to travel to Weston-McEwen on Tuesday, and then to Pasco to face Tri-Cities Prep Friday, before hosting DeSales on Saturday.
