Dayton's Sidney Andrews had a double-double on Friday, scoring 12 points and snagging ten rebounds.

DAYTON – A sputtering Dayton girls' basketball team came to life late in the third quarter Friday and rallied to beat Lind-Ritzville, 49-46. The Lady 'Dogs trailed by as much as 18 points in the third, but came back, cutting the deficit to nine at the end of three and outscoring the Bronco girls 22-10 in the final stanza.

Dayton led 13-10 after one quarter, but were outscored 14-4 in the second, to trail 24-17 at the half.

"We got a couple of bounces to go our way at some crucial times, and were fortunate that Ritzville missed some shots," Dayton Coach Clayton Strong said of his team's turnaround in the third quarter. "In the last 12 minutes of that game, all nine girls that suited up did something crucial that allowed us to have the opportunity to come back and win that game."

Dayton sophomore wing Sidney Andrews finished with a double-double, scoring a dozen points and pulling down ten rebounds. Madison Mings had nine points, and Lexie Ramirez and Sarah Phillips each had seven. Shayla Currin had seven rebounds and Sarah Phillips had three assists.

"We do have to play more consistently over the course of an entire game if we want to keep making progress toward goals that we have set for ourselves as a team," Strong said.

Dayton now hits the road for a few games. They were to travel to Pomeroy on Tuesday, and then to Asotin Friday. They continue on the road at Walla Walla Valley Academy Saturday and Garfield-Palouse on Tuesday, January 13.
