EFFORTS RAISE $8,000 FOR MORTON FAMILY

Current and former students of the Walla Walla Community College Culinary Arts program prepared the benefit dinner that raised $5,000 for the Morton family.
WAITSBURG - Local efforts have raised a total of $8,000 for the family of Jenna Morton, a 29-year-old mother, who was killed in an automobile accident on Oct. 4, leaving behind a husband and three young children. Fundraiser organizer Jamie Gleason said the family's immediate needs are met with extra funds available to go toward replacing their lost vehicle.
A benefit dinner, in conjunction with a silent auction, raised $5,000, a bake sale raised an additional $1,700 and community members quickly donated $1,300 for an immediate need request for funeral travel expenses.
Gleason said she is incredibly thankful for the many individuals that volunteered their time, organized events, and provided resources as well as the generous support of the community.
