PILOT ROCK - The Lady Tigers softball team won one of three games played at the March 21-22 tournament in Pilot Rock.

The Tigers faced Umatilla in Friday night's first game of the tournament, walking away with a 14-3 mercy-rule win. "We initially struggled with Umatilla's young pitcher because her speed isn't something we're used. It was hard for the girls to be patient at the plate and let the ball get to them. This game gave us a good opportunity to work on several things offensively. On the defensive side we played pretty consistent but had a few lapses in the 4th inning, allowing Umatilla to score a few runs," said Coach Angie Potts.

WP's Caitlin Mohney made 3 hits while Analise Salazar, Loegan Harshman, Heidi Miller, Samantha Fedderson, Paige Wood and Jade Alleman made two each. Lexi Brannock and Jaidyn Brown hit one each. Pitching were Brown and Wood (4) with Alleman catching.

In game two, on Saturday, the Tigers fell 7-4 to Pilot Rock, with 10 hits and 5 errors. "We matched up pretty well with Pilot Rock we just weren't able to string together the hits in order to score the runs needed. On the defensive side, we struggled to field the ball cleanly and make the plays," said Potts. Brown pitched with Alleman and Brannock (6) catching. Wood hit three and Harshman and Fedderson hit two. Salazar, Miller and Mohney hit one each.

In game three, against Enterprise, the Tigers took a beating and fell 25-1. "Enterprise has one of the best hitting teams I've seen in a long time. They were solid through their entire lineup," said Potts. Brown and Wood (4) pitched with Brannock catching. Salazar and Fedderson got one hit each.

"This weekend gave us a lot of quality playing time and a chance to work on several things. Analise Salazar, Loegan Harshman, Heidi Miller, Samantha Fedderson and Paige Wood all did well at the plate. Heidi Miller was solid on defense with several good plays at third and first base. Jaidyn Brown and Paige Wood did a great job pitching," said Potts.
