The Times - Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley

WAITSBURG -- Pam Conover and Joan Helm, representatives of the Walla Walla Columbia School Re­tirees, visited the Waitsburg Elementary staff meeting on Tuesday, March 18 to award two $100.00 mini-grants. Pam Nolan Beasley received a grant to purchase materials for early literacy and kin­dergarten readiness. Carol Clarke plans to share her mini grant with staff mem­bers by providing materials they would find useful in their classrooms.

Twelve mini grants have been awarded this school year. Members employed at school districts in Walla Walla and Columbia coun­ties have the opportunity to apply for the grants.

Eligible schools are: Day­ton, Starbuck, Waitsburg, Prescott, Dixie, Touchet, Columbia Burbank, Col­lege Place and Walla Walla. The Walla Walla Colum­bia Counties Unit has 227 members who are presently employed, with a total mem­bership of 614.
