Scary (or not) Halloween Fun in the Touchet Valley

DAYTON - Goblins and witches and ghosts will descend on the Touchet Valley in about a week, but valley residents are ready. The following list will help all those costumed tykes (and their parents - costumed or not) plan their Halloween fun:

Dayton

Fall Harvest Celebration Blue Mountain Station (700 Artisan Way, Dayton) Oct. 25 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Costume judging, pumpkin painting, coloring contest, bean bag toss, mummy wrap, drawings every 30 minutes and more. Downtown Trick-or- Treat Dayton Main Street Oct. 31 3 -5 p.m. Participating businesses will display a bright orange pumpkin on their doors or windows and offer candy and treats to kids in costume. Don't miss the fun! Trunk-or-Treat Dayton Methodist Church (110 S. 3rd) Oct. 31 3-5:00 p.m. Local churches are joining together to provide treats and candies for the children as they Trick-or- Treat Main Street. Sheriff's Office Trick-or- Treat Columbia County Sheriff' Office 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 31 The doors on the ground floor lobby on the north side of the Col. Co. Courthouse will be open with volunteers offering bags of goodies donated by local organizations. Members of Col. Co. Fire District #3 provide free hotdogs and will have an emergency vehicle on display in the courthouse parking lot

Waitsburg

Waitsburg Fire Station (Main Street) Oct. 31 5:30-8 p.m. Stop by the fire station for free safety flashers and candy. All Saint's Festival Nov. 2 2-4 p.m. Come to the Waitsburg Presbyterian Church Basement dressed as your favorite saint or hero. Learn some history of the holiday and decorate cupcakes to deliver to local families.

Prescott

Haunted House Prescott Lion's Club Hall (101 S. D St., Prescott) Oct. 31 6 p.m. FREE haunted house in the Lion's Club hall basement. Evening includes snacks and treats and a pumpkin carving contest (pumpkins will be provided) with movie passes as prizes. Adult "Scary Karoake" and Costume Contest The Tuxedo Bar & Grill, Prescott Oct. 31 8 p.m. to midnight

Walla Walla

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) The Gesa Powerhouse Theater, Oct. 24 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Family-friendly festival will include free activities, live music and dance, art demonstrations, food vendors and more. YCCY Haunted House and Teen Halloween Dance Walla Walla Armory (113 S. Colville St.) Oct. 24 7-10 p.m. Costumes are encouraged. Dance admission is $3 (free to YCCY members) and includes admission to a haunted house organized by the Army National Guard stationed at the Armory. Students from ages 12-18 are welcome. DARE Fundraiser Dinner Oct. 31 4-7 p.m. Coffee Connections (57 E. Main, Walla Walla) Enjoy a full spaghetti dinner for $5 ($20 for family of 6) before you go trickor treating. All proceeds go to keep the Walla Walla Sheriff's D.A.R.E. program running YMCA Spooktacular Oct. 31 4:30-7 p.m. Free festival for all ages with games, prizes, inflatable structures, and a Zombie Haunted House. The preschool room will be set up with age appropriate games and costumes. Americorp will sponsor a Trunk or Treat in the parking lot. The YMCA will also collect canned food for the Realtors Care & Share Can Food Drive.
