PRESCOTT - The WP Tigers Softball team took two wins in a double-header against the District 7 Liberty Christian Patriots at Prescott on Thursday, April 3.

The Tigers came out strong in game one. The Patriots made two runs in the first inning but the Tigers held them there throughout the game. Hannah Grant hit a solo home run in inning three and Paige Wood had a tworun homer in the fourth. "We hit the ball really well and played outstanding defense," said WP Coach Angie Potts. "Jaidyn Brown did a great job of pitching, striking out five and only walking one."

Jaidyn Brown pitched with Jade Alleman catching. Harshman, Miller, Fedderson, Wood and Brown had two hits each with Grant and Alleman bringing in one. Brown and Wood both scored home runs.

Game two was a close win; in spite of WP taking a strong 10-0 lead in the first inning. "Their pitcher struggled in the first inning and we were able to get off to a fast start with good hitting that moved runners around," said Potts. The Tiger's Loegan Harshman had 6 RBI and three doubles in game two. The Patriots rallied and the teams were tied 13 all at the bottom of inning five, but the Tigers pulled ahead to walk a with a 15-13 win.

"After that first inning, we got a little complacent and let down on both offensive and defense. Fortunately, we were able push the extra runs across the plate when needed to hold on for the win. It's always good to face a District 7 team so we were looking forward to these games," said Potts.

Wood and Brown (3) pitched game two with Alleman and Wood(3) catching. Harshman made four hits with Salazar, Miller, Wood and Alleman at one each.
