The Dayton Eagles contribute much to the community

February 9, 2023

Dear Editor,

As we go about our daily lives in Dayton, WA, we encounter many, many wonderful individuals. I have the privilege of knowing a group of such individuals; a group that works as a team and makes up the Dayton Eagles Aerie and Auxiliary #2618.

The Dayton Eagles Auxiliary #2618 have been raising money to support the Aerie and their community they love, for over 70 years. The Aerie and Auxiliary has and continues to fundraise and donate in a multitude of ways.

Donated swim passes for all the kids in town

Helped with band uniforms for the high school

Handed out scholarships

Donate to the county extension office for local 4H memberships

Donate to our local Summer Rec program for kids

Helped buy a Neonatal bed from Sacred Heart in Spokane. (As a few babies from Dayton needed the use of one)

Give school supplies to the grade school kids every year

Donated twice to The Club; Dayton’s community after school, spring break, and summer program.

Helps with the annual Halloween party for our local kids

Donates to our local kids sports programs

Sponsored a CampFire group

Sponsored a 100th birthday party for a local lady which resulted in a very large turn out. More than expected - for the good.

Helped with a monetary donation for a Waitsburg, WA boy that needed a transplant.

Gave a $500 grocery/clothes certificate for a young family that lost their home in a fire.

The Eagles Ladies’ Auxiliary provides Memorial Dinners for our members, as well as for the community. There is no cost for this service, but they rely on donations to keep providing the service.

Since the June 2021 fire, most of the usual funds have been depleted in order to reopen a new location.

The Aerie and Auxiliary remains as dedicated and instrumental as ever in the continuing operation of the Dayton Eagles #2618. Your efforts are not always front page news, but we see you, and we know the powerful force of your collective action; yours is a strong legacy of countless quiet acts performed with love. I would like to thank them for their many hours of service and commitment to making a difference in our lovely town, Dayton Wa.

Tammy B.

Dayton, Wash.
