Waitsburg native Bob Collins has announced his candidacy for Port of Walla Walla Commissioner, District No. 1. The position is currently held by Paul H. Schneidmiller. Candidates who have also filed are Cory Henson and Jim Bear.

The Times received a note from Dan Leathers, a Dixie area resident who is a charter fisherman in Ketchikan, Alaska, during the summer. Leathers’ son Alex is with him this summer and he writes that they had last Saturday morning off, so they went fishing and caught five nice King salmon in about three hours.
