Public Hearing for Proposed Trust Land Exchange in Columbia Co.

DAYTON – The Washington State Department of Natural Resources and the Bonneville Power Administration have scheduled a public hearing at 6 p.m. on May 14 in the Columbia County Public Works Office conference room, at 415 N. Guernsey in Dayton, to provide information and receive comments from the public about a proposed land exchange that could impact the county.

BPA is building a major transmission line, known as the Central Ferry-Lower Monumental line, across a parcel of DNR-managed state trust land in Columbia County. BPA has agreed to acquire the property though an exchange of forest land it owns in King County that has a similar value but more long-term revenue potential for the Common School Trust.

More information about the exchange is on DNR’s website at: http://1.usa.gov/1F4pFiq. Written comments will be accepted until 5 p.m. on May 29. Please send comments to: Washington State Department of Natural Resources, Conservation, Recreation and Transactions Division, ATTN: Kelly Bradley, Exchange No. 86-088638, Mail Stop 47014, Olympia, WA 98504-7014, or email comments to: Kelly.Bradley@dnr.wa.gov.
